A bit of a history
Where did it come from
This style originated in the small, sunny village of Petrykivka in central Ukraine. Long ago, villagers believed that beautiful paintings could protect them from bad luck. They used to decorate the walls of their whitewashed houses, their furniture, and even household tools with colorful flowers and birds.
Today, this art is so unique that it has been recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The Magic of Nature:
The main subjects are always inspired by the wild—lush peonies, bright poppies, bunches of viburnum berries, and magical firebirds..
The “Koshachka” Secret:
Perhaps the most fascinating detail is the tool we use. To get those incredibly fine, elegant lines, we use a handmade brush called a Koshachka, made from small tufts of cat hair. No factory-made brush can replicate its delicate touch!
The Fingerprint Technique:
Look closely at some of the berries or petals—they are often painted using the artist’s own finger. It’s a direct, physical connection between the artist and the canvas.
