The Brimscombe mill – The Cradle of My Development

The Long Table – The Cradle of My Development

After an incredibly busy autumn and a super intense Christmas period, it’s such a delight to return to the relaxing and friendly atmosphere of The Brimscombe Mill!

The crackling fire nearby adds warmth, while children dart about, queuing up and then rushing off to choose toys, play tennis, or finish their crafts at The Kids Stuff. Many of these children are familiar faces now; they bring me their ideas and seem to have more faith in my abilities than I do myself.

Every time I step through the door of The Mill, I can’t help but recall my very first visit when I came to paint the children’s faces. My hands were trembling, and the paints and brushes seemed uncooperative. Back then, my ideas remained perfect only in my mind, while the actual designs on the children’s faces were… well, let’s just say they weren’t what I had envisioned. Yet, the people around me somehow offered their support and praise. Someone even said it was the best face painting they’d ever seen, and I nearly cried at the unfairness—my artwork didn’t deserve such compliments! At The Brimscombe Mill I always worked on a “Pay as you feel” basis, and people often gave me more money than I thought I deserved for my work.

This powerful support and faith in me became a real motivation—I wanted that praise to be justified; I wanted my creations to truly delight both the children and the adults who admired them!

I’m still on this journey, learning so much from my wonderful teachers, and I’m ready to invest more time and resources into my development so that my artwork can finally meet my own standards of perfection.

Thank you, The Brimscombe Mill, The Long table, The Kids Stuff —you’ve given me wings to soar further in my quest to learn how to fly, but I always look forward to returning to show you how much I’ve grown.

On Saturday, February 1st, I’m looking forward to welcoming all the little and big fans of face painting to the cosy and kind atmosphere of The Brimscombe Mill. I’m already preparing new designs featuring superheroes and dragons!
